About
Bachmeyer Press is a storytelling studio working to interrupt harmful cultural narratives by telling stories that celebrate change.
We are certified as a Women Business Enterprise (WBE), Small Business Enterprise (SBE), and Small Local Business Enterprise (SLBE).
Meet the founder
Katie Bachmeyer has been telling stories since she could carry a camcorder on her shoulder.
Born out of a lifelong empathy for others longing to be seen and heard, Katie has been practicing storytelling professionally since 2006.
Her stories have been co-created alongside people with trauma histories, citizens with labels of disability, social justice seekers, neighbors, and young people on a path to mental wellness.
She approaches storytelling through the lenses of anthropology, journalism, the science of storytelling, trauma-informed care, mindfulness, cultural-humility, asset-based community development, design thinking, and social role valorization (SRV).
As a 2021 School Board School alumnus, 2020 Science of Storytelling alumnus, 2010 Fulbright Scholar, and Certified Yoga Instructor, Katie stays involved in the community and is continuously improving her craft.
She's also a beginner endurance cyclist, Girl Scout dropout, and once worked at a canning factory in Alaska.

The history of Bachmeyer Press
Robert Stanley Bachmeyer, Katie’s great-grandfather, ran the Bachmeyer-Lutmer Press in the early 1900s. Robert died at a young age, leaving behind him a lasting legacy of printing and marketing. Both his son Stanley, and his grandson, Stanley Jr. (Katie’s father), went on to work in the print and paper industries. In 1996, Katie’s father launched his own paper company with a focus on being a friend to the small printer.
As a descendant in this line, and the first woman to carry Robert Stanley’s legacy, Katie traded letterpress printing for digital storytelling and launched her company on January 1, 2020. Restoring the name Bachmeyer Press was a way to pay homage to her entrepreneurial ancestry, while sparking a new legacy of inclusion, connection, and empathy as a modern Story Press.
